holiday gelato taste-off

blue ridge ice cream held a holiday flavor contest where participants proposed holiday flavors - we were supposed to make up a name and give three ingredients for the proposed flavor. the top 3 were chosen, and will be competing in a TASTE(sell)-OFF by the general public consumers starting thursday, november 5th. first, second, and third place will be determined by the order in which the flavors sell out.

i cannot tell you how completely freaked-out-thrilled i was when i found out that my flavor had made the top three. i would talk smack about the other two flavors, but i actually know one of the people who is in the running... and, well, he's a really sweet kid... and, well, i can only be so pathetic.

so may the best ice cream... actually, it turns out it will be gelato... win.

the three competing flavors are (and i won't tell you which one is mine, because i want you to realize its splendor without any bias whatsoever):

Tres Leches*
Cranberry / Walnut
Gingerbread House!

they all sound really good, right? i'm sure it will be really hard to choose your favorite. which very well may turn out to be something that rhymes with schmingerfred mouse. or not. who knows?

*which actually sounds quite divine... shoot.

glen alpine

in case anyone out there is looking for a local-ish marathon next year, try this one! my friend has way better photos than i do, so check her blog for the scenic review.

we stayed at the inn at glen alpine at it was so charming. the hostess was a total sweetheart and the rooms were gorgeous. it sure made the whole experience feel like a true vacation get-away... i highly recommend it.

ouchie

my friends and i ran a painful but beautiful marathon in the hills of morganton, nc on saturday. more photos to come... in the meantime, enjoy a mini-documentary of my stair descent on post-marathon day #1. maybe i can enter the short feature competition in riverrun 2010?
